Captain Jack Sparrow and his crew are on another adventure. This time they have returned to New Orleans to search for their first mate, Arabella. Jack calls the powerful mystic Tia Dalma. She is not happy when he calls her; she prefers to stay deep in the swamp. Before Miss Dalma has a chance to ask Jack why he has bothered her, he jumps into a long tale of how he and his crew were successful in securing an amulet. It was when another pirate, the beautiful Madame Miniut, entered the scene that their problems beganwhen she stole the amulet. She may be beautiful, but she is also notorious. Madame Miniut is not Jack Sparrow's only problem. He has his share of enemies and at this time they are all causing him problems. Tia Dalma seems bored by Jack's plight and that of Arabella. What is a ship captain to do in this situation? Readers will have to dive into this book and find out. City of Gold is a part of a series and it may be confusing to readers who have not read the previous books in the series. Reviewer: Laura J. Brown
