It is Clifford the Big Red Dog’s birthday and his owner Emily Elizabeth has planned a big party for him. But when Clifford’s guests do not arrive on time for the party, he and Emily Elizabeth go searching for them. When they locate them at the playground, their friend Jenny explains they were reluctant to come because they did not have good enough presents for such a special friend as Clifford. Emily Elizabeth assures them that Clifford would like whatever they give him, so they run home to retrieve their gifts and join the party. Clifford receives many wonderful gifts (some appropriate and some not so appropriate); but he is given one very special gift, disguised in a large birthday cake, that makes him the happiest of all.
