The Controller-Covenant

In part one of the Controller series, successful financier, Richard Sinclair, campaigned for the presidency of the United States.

When Richard's running mate, Stephen Hamilton, saw the level of support they were receiving from factions not previously enamored with the Republican party, he confronted Richard.

Richard, naive to the ways of Washington, and surprised at Stephen's concern and assured him that it was just a lucky turn of events that they garnered voter support for their programs.

As Richard was settling into the Oval Office on his first official day, he discovered a cell phone that had been surreptitiously placed inside his briefcase. An accompanying envelope contained a note that would forever change his life. Infuriated, Richard placed a call to the only number stored in the contact list only to be met with a voicemail response to leave a message.

As his first day in office was drawing to a close, the cell phone rang. Richard's anger returned as he answered, but before he could vent, the person on the other end cut him off and assumed control of the conversation.

Controller, as he was named in the cell phone's contracts, made it clear to Richard that he was the president's benefactor. Controller assured Richard that he was powerless to stop the plans that his benefactor wanted to have implemented. He made it perfectly clear to Richard that his family's safety was at stake. After giving Richard time to adjust to the arrangement, and come to the realization that resistance would be of no avail, Controller had a heart-to-heart conversation with Richard.

Controller convinced Richard that his motives and plans would be of great benefit to humanity. Though wary, Richard agreed to give some of the plans a trial.

Richard's first term was punctuated with success after success. The Controller's plans proved beneficial to the world and to Richard's hope for reelection.

Richard's success continued throughout his second term, and as a reward, Controller made sure that Richard was elected as the first president of the new World Organization of Nations. The WON wielded more power than any single nation, including the United States, and ensured peace and prosperity would forever prevail.

As Richard was preparing to step down as WON president, Controller informed him that he was going to remain in office indefinitely. Controller then told Richard the truth behind all the programs that he had implemented under the Controller's direction.

The fears that Richard buried years prior had been resurrected. He was forced to face the fact that he had to bring down Controller no matter the cost.

About the Author

I took up writing after retiring from a 40 odd years career in Information Technology.

One of my favorite genres to read is science fiction. However, I cannot come up with an original scifi plot! Guess I won't be publishing any new scifi here.

I'll stick to writing novels in my new series COLOR ME MURDER.
