Crosses to Bear
In this second book, Crosses to Bear, Macduff faces an attempt by someone to murder members of the Shuttle Gals, the small business of five women who move guides’ vehicles and trailers from the put-in location, downstream to where the boat will be taken out at the end of the day’s float. The attempt may have been by Victoria Montoya, sister of a Mexican drug cartel head, who was rebuffed by the Shuttle Gals. Or it may have been by a member of PARA―People for the Annihilation of Recreational Angling. Or the attempt may have been the action of coal or agricultural interests who wish to build a new high dam that would flood much of Paradise Valley.

About the Author

Author M.W.Gordon taught law at universities in seven nations, authored dozens of law books and articles, consulted on dozens of foreign law issues, and traveled widely lecturing for the State Department and Council of Foreign Relations. Changing focus, he stopped teaching, built a wooden drift-boat named Osprey, and became a fly fishing guide. He divides his time between the salt-marsh flats below St. Augustine, Florida, and the creeks and rivers of Wyoming and Montana. He has floated Osprey on numerous rivers, including recently rescuing a father and young children after their drift boat, overloaded with six persons, crashed into a strainer ― trees piled high in the middle of the river ― and sank on the Snake River in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He has worked with Project Healing Waters in Montana, taking combat-wounded disabled–vets fly fishing on the Yellowstone River. His author-wife Buff and he live in Summer Haven, south of St. Augustine, with their sheltie, Macduff.
