About the Author

Ray Simpson was one of the first modern Celtic Christians to describe the Holy Spirit as a wild goose. Centuries of Christians had seen the dove’s white wings as the embodiment of the Divine Spirit’s mysterious presence—but the Celts remind us that the Spirit is a disturber as well as a comforter . . . wild, free, and unpredictable. Ray wrote:

trapped places;

wild places;
Be my brood in the

Be my formation in the
lost places."

Founding guardian of the Celtic Community of Aidan and Hilda, Ray Simpson lives today on Lindisfarne, the Holy Island that is known as the Cradle of Christianity for English-speaking people.
