Hike 67: Los Robles Trail--Eastern Segment: Potrero Gate to Angel Vista.

The Los Robles Trail System is a well-planned network of trails weaving through the growing residential communities of Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, and Newbury Park. The 25 miles of multi-use trails link the designated open spaces of the Conejo Valley with Point Mugu State Park and the oceanfront Santa Monica Mountains. This is an important wildlife corridor that connects the Santa Monica range with the Simi Hills.

The hike from Potrero Gate follows an east-west ridge beginning at the 1 88-acre Deer Ridge Open Space in Newbury Park. The open space is dominated by ridges and canyons dense with chaparral and pockets of oak woodlands. The Los Robles Trail traverses the length of Deer Ridge Open Space to Angel Vista, a 1 ,600-foot overlook in the Ventu Park Open Space. From the overlook are bird’s-eye views of the Conejo Valley, Hidden Valley, and the surrounding mountains to the sea.
