About the Author

Andrew James Wells (1975-Present): I was born in Stockton, United Kingdom in September 1975 and lived in Yarm for many years before making the move to Fairfield, United Kingdom. My first love was music, I loved the way words and melody combined to make something that can be so powerful. Music was and still is a huge part of my life but more so during my childhood and early adult life, it helped me cope with a lot of things but also progress into the making of music. I learned to play bass, guitar and drums, and started to make my own compositions which evolved into songs that can be heard on Sound Cloud (See basic demos on right hand menu) but also had the opportunity to play with other musicians in bands.

The next step was to learn more about recording music so I attended Staffordshire University in 1999 and left in 2003 with a degree in Music Technology and Audio Systems Design. After leaving University I started my own media company and enjoyed that before the likes of Play.com came around and made me reinvent myself, so I turned to Website media design, which was a very slow business. By then I had so much going on in my head that I needed to find something I could vent towards and get out all the issues, so I started on an idea to write my own life autobiography but who was going to want to read that, right?

I started planning this book, novel or whatever you want to call it back in late 2007 but rather than being about myself I created a character, this was going to be my mask to hide behind but as I was writing it I found I was enjoying the dark twisted storylines I was making so started to create parts that were the true me and parts that were fiction. Life from that point went from bad to, well, amazing, which was something I wasn’t expecting. It was one of those life changing moments where you are at the end of your rope and in walks perfection to change your whole life for the better. To cut a long story short, I met my wife, got married, had a gorgeous son (well my wife did) and all that wrapped in a new house.

My book took a time out for a few years, sat on a floppy disk in a lonely disk box waiting for me to remember where the little fella was to continue my journey but it wasn’t until a very stressful time at work that I needed that focus/vent thing again and found my book, gave him a hug and said “Let’s start this thing again”. I started writing and got the whole writing buzz back again.

Soil For The Rose was the book in question and should be available in 2014. I had written some poetry prior to all this, which can be seen in Digital Shadows (Free on Smashwords) and Past Visions (Available on Amazon) and just released a third poetry book entitled Shattered Glass Mind, also via Amazon.
