The second book in the "Return to the Library of Doom" series finds the librarian searching for his pages that have been imprisoned in the Fortress Diction Aerie by the Wordsmith. He finds an assistant and they escape the pressing, glowing walls only to encounter the warrior in golden armor. This is Forger, Wordsmith's tricky brother, who pretends to be helpful while actually delaying the rescue. Witty wordplay characterizes this short adventure. This reader laughed out loud at many puns. Bright yellow pages with colorful illustrations lend a comic book quality. Words ramble over the pages, are imprisoned in boxes, and even burst into flames to enhance meaning. At times, three stacked words in different fonts illustrate different uses of a word. Discussion questions and writing prompts at the end provide fun, critical thinking exercises. Reluctant readers will enjoy the librarian's adventures.
