It is nighttime as evidenced by the moon and stars shining through the window in the opening pages of this simple book. Dot (a yellow and orange polka-dot dog) and Dash (a blue striped cat) are getting ready for bed. Sitting in the bathtub together, Dash is confused. Dot shows her what to do. When it is time to brush teeth, Dash must demonstrate for Dot. In the bedroom, Dash starts bouncing on the bed. Dot shows that reading a book is the desired behavior. When it is time for lights out, Dot is frightened, so Dash offers a Teddy Bear to sleep with. A back page is filled with stickers, some of which have designated places within the illustrations and others to place as the child sees fit.
