Perhaps as a result, his resume includes collaborations with everyone from Paul Simon, to Aretha Franklin, to the late Sam Cooke. Rainey brings his expertise to bear on the instructional program The Legendary Bass of Chuck Rainey, in which he teaches aspiring guitarists such techniques as the thumb-slap, line development, walking basslines, octave exercises and much more. The program illustrates the various methods for right and left-handed players, with such devices as extreme close-ups, slow-motion footage and split-screen.
