Though organized popular dancing has taken a decided backseat to individualized movement in the 20th century, it used to be the crux of socialization. Dancetime! 500 Years of Social Dance devotes itself to reconstructing the scene and showing viewers what people did for fun half a millennium ago. Dancetime! 500 Years of Social Dance, Volume 1: 15th-19th Centuries traces the history of movement from the 15th to the 19th centuries using the research of choreographer Carol Teten. With the help of the specially formed Dance Through Time company, Teten displays over 38 fully costumed dances.
