Overview

La década del setenta, del siglo XX, significó para la historia de la educación colombiana, el inicio de una nueva forma de educar denominada educación a distancia. Esta educación se dirigió particularmente a la formación de los maestros en ejercicio. Las exigencias de una preparación disciplinar, pedagógica y didáctica se hacían evidentes, hecho que reclamaba una mayor capacitación para responder a los retos educativos del momento histórico. En la educación se puede hablar de tres momentos claramente diferenciados: el primero, caracterizado por el uso de los módulos escritos de instrucción programada, correo convencional, teléfono y la televisión; un segundo momento, determinado por el uso de las mediaciones tecnológicas como computadores, audio conferencia, hipermedia y puentes satelitales; y un tercer momento caracterizado por el uso de la red de Internet que posibilita el diseño de ambientes virtuales de aprendizaje, mediante el uso plataformas virtuales.
