The two-hour film reunites the scientists, engineers, geologists, and astronauts whose extraordinary efforts put men on the moon, nearly a quarter century after the Apollo space program reached its conclusion. Beginning with the Gemini space program, each mission up to and including the final Apollo excursion is thoroughly examined through the use of period footage, interviews, and computer graphics. Safely ensconced in a spacious conference room, astronauts Gene Cernan, Frank Borman, and Ed White speak frankly about both the trials and joys of their outer-space experiences. Never-before-aired footage of the Apollo I's burned space capsule underscores the early problems NASA encountered in its moon quest.
