A newspaper reporter agrees to accompany a stranger to his father's funeral, and agrees to investigate after discovering the departed didn't die of natural causes. Naomi is traveling by train when she meets Gerardo. After missing her stop, she agrees to get off at Gerardo's station, and join him in a drink. Over the course of their conversation, Gerardo reveals that he's on his way to his father's funeral, and asks Naomi to join him. At the funeral, Naomi learns that Gerardo's father was murdered. When the village elder implores her to investigate, she quickly discovers that this isn't your typical small town. The locals are highly superstitious, and it seems that some of them will do anything for money. When Naomi learns of an urban myth that hangs over the town like a black cloud, she finds herself getting closer to the center of a particularly sinister mystery.
