Peter Cushing assumes most of the histrionic chores in Twins of Evil, one of the last gasps in the cycle of famed Hammer horror films. Cushing plays Gustav Weil, whom, along with his Puritan lynch mob, raids the countryside for available women to burn at the stake, after a series of vampire attacks has set the town in a grip of terror. But the mob's witch-hunting spree is stopped dead when they capture a serving wench who happens to serve the local baron Count Karnstein (Damien Thomas). What Weil and the villagers don't realize is the Count Karnstein is a vampire. The next morning, Weil's two gorgeous twin nieces, Frieda and Maria (played by Playboy Playmates twins Mary Collinson and Madeleine Collinson), arrive in the village to stay with Weil after the deaths of their parents. Frieda and Maria, who previously lived in the sophisticated splendor of Venice, have to adjust to the more small-minded and conservative attitudes of Weil and the village. But Frieda adjusts better than Maria does, sneaking out of the house at night to spend time with Count Karnstein. Soon enough, Frieda has become a vampire herself.
