Emotions for Visual Thinkers
Part self-help, part history and philosophy of science, this is a NOOK book on emotions for people who think in pictures.
Gain a deeper and richer understanding of your emotions. We will look at some of the different words for emotions, how our faces and bodies express them, and a few of the brain structures that generate them. We will examine major contributions of philosophy, biology, psychology and neuroscience to the study of emotions. Finally we will consider the nature of feelings, personal and mental, as distinct from emotions. I have written this book to share insights gained from 15 years of publishing learning materials for people with autism, learning difficulties and sensory issues.

About the Author

Since taking my doctorate in history I have managed microfilm projects for the state of North Carolina and the US Library of Congress and published a range of materials for learners with special needs. Along with way I have come to understand that many, many people think largely in pictures rather than words and sentences, and are more apt to learn from images than from blocks of text. Emotions for Visual Thinkers is a user's guide to emotions written with them in mind.

My first book is a Scottish history monograph, From Rebel to Hero: The Image of the Highlander, Tuckwell Press, 1995.
