Emotions to Live With
As human beings we accept our supremacy over other animals with the knowledge that we are endowed with emotions that other primates and mammals don't have. Yet, even with this keen knowledge before us, our emotions confuse us. For as long as time has existed, certain emotions have been associated with the act of sin. In our socialization, we have been taught and therefore believe that one sin is as egregious as the next. With this misconception instilled in our psyche we then developed traumatizing notions in regards to how we experience, view interpret and relate to certain emotions. The most traumatic by far are: hate, jealousy, vengeance and envy. Ruby Shivers, and her contributing authors share personal experiences and understandings of these four emotions in an effort to re-open the dialogue on their negative power and influence.

About the Author

Ruby Williams Shivers is the author of several books. Her debut book, Tired, Trite, and Tasteless Expressions that keep us Damaged, retitled “Verbal Healing”, artfully combines a healthy dose of ‘mother wit’ with plain reality to create a potent mixture of total revelation. “…Her observations go right to the point, they are pure and unadulterated,” states Betty Dopson, co-chair of CEMOTAP. In her second book, Victims of Confusion, “Ruby won’t just teach you about what it means to be confused – more importantly, she’ll teach you how to break free from confusion, and release the negative baggage that’s holding you back from reaching your goals,” states Shamsid-Deen, president of The Power Speaker’s Institute. Her third book, The Quarters, is a fictional novel in which “…tales of everyday life, from births, fights, crime, violence, new jobs, affairs, marriages, sickness and deaths in the mythical small Southern town are told through the eyes of a family matriarch…,” states Evelyn Apgar, Courier News correspondent. Emotions to Live With is Ruby’s fourth book on her continuing journey on a path of enlightenment and provocative thinking. She has received numerous awards for service along with and newspaper coverage and talk show appearances across the country.
