Emotions to Live With
As human beings we accept our supremacy over other animals with the knowledge that we are endowed with emotions that other primates and mammals don't have. Yet, even with this keen knowledge before us, our emotions confuse us. For as long as time has existed, certain emotions have been associated with the act of sin. In our socialization, we have been taught and therefore believe that one sin is as egregious as the next. With this misconception instilled in our psyche we then developed traumatizing notions in regards to how we experience, view interpret and relate to certain emotions. The most traumatic by far are: hate, jealousy, vengeance and envy. Ruby Shivers, and her contributing authors share personal experiences and understandings of these four emotions in an effort to re-open the dialogue on their negative power and influence.
