About the Author

Wendy Wax has written many children’s books, including City Witch, Country Switch; Even Firefighters Go to the Potty; Clara the Klutz; Bus to Booville; and Even Princesses Go to the Potty. Wendy is also an editor and collage artist.

Naomi Wax has taught creative writing in after-school programs at the Fieldston and Ethical Culture Schools. She is co author of Cool Women: the Thinking Girl’s Guide to the Hippest Women in History, which was adapted for the WE Network by Debbie Allen. She lives in New York City.

Francesca Carabelli studied art and literature at the University of Rome. As a child she loved to paint on her bedroom walls. Now she works out of a colorful attic that’s filled with all her characters—and her sweet black dog, Luna.

What a better way to encourage little girls in potty training than to affirm that even princesses go to the potty? This lift the flap book is a great potty training tool for little girls moving from diapers to undies. Each page reveals a character—princess, baker, ballerina, dentist—who seem to go missing, only to be discovered when the reader lifts the door flap and reveals the character going to the potty. Young readers will see that many adults they look up to make time in their day to go to the bathroom, assuring them that it is a safe and positive action. Carabelli’s illustrations are sweet and girly, using pinks, purples, dolls, and animals to draw in little readers. The book does not overdo gender stereotypes; some of the women who use the potty have unexpected female careers such as boat captain and animal trainer.
