About the Author

JIM BRANDENBURG is widely recognized as one of the world's premier wildlife photographers. His work with National Geographic has produced 19 magazine stories, several television features, and nearly 20 books, including four for children. His photographs have won numerous awards, including Magazine Photographer of the Year by the National Press Photographer's Association (twice) and Kodak Wildlife Photographer of the Year by the Natural History Museum-London and the BBC's Wildlife magazine. He was a Hasselblad Master, a Nikon Legend Behind the Lens, and one of Canon's Explorer of Light photographers. Brandenburg received the World Achievement Award from the United Nations Environmental Programme in Stockholm, Sweden, in recognition of his use of nature photography in raising public awareness for the environment. JUDY BRANDENBURG works closely with her husband as his photographic assistant and in the editing of his books, television documentaries, presentations, and photographic exhibits.
Jim and Judy Brandenburg established the Brandenburg Prairie Foundation in 1999 to educate, promote, preserve, and expand native prairie in southwestern Minnesota.
