Falling in Love with Myself
This is a story of the difficulties which an Italian prisoner of war and later immigrant family to South Africa had to endure, and the toll it took on the family, and on the author as the daughter of the family in particular. It is especially the story of her battle to overcome the trauma of her childhood and youth, and the Sicilian family culture of that time.
She has learned to value her heritage, and to forgive both herself and those close to her, and finally to accept and love herself as a complete and beautiful person. Her story is one of trauma, depression, awareness, acceptance, forgiveness, and ultimately, of compassion and love.
