In this clever blend of fact and fiction, youngsters will enjoy all the experiences of Nancy, her dad and little sister, JoJo as they learn about the stars (including the sun) and the moon. The opening pages show the family having an evening meal outside. JoJo is anxious for darkness so she can see some stars. Patiently Nancy points out that the sun is really a star. The text also conveys a warning about looking directly at the sun. When the moon appears, Nancy again explains all about it to JoJo and they pretend to be astronauts and journey to the moon. At last it is dark and the girls sit with their father to locate and name many of the constellations. When it grows cloudy, Nancy relates her own star legend about a diamond tiara. As it grows windy, JoJo returns to the house to sleep, but Nancy and her father spend the night outdoors in the tent. Morning brings a beautiful rainbow as a perfect ending to a grand adventure. Like all the other books about Nancy, the enthusiastic line and watercolor illustrations perfectly compliment the actions and emotions of the text. Nancy's "drawing" of the lady in the moon is exactly what one would expect from this lively little redhead. Children are sure to welcome another book about this feisty and elegant little girl. Since all the other titles about Nancy are very popular and this one contains a good science lesson, place it on the first purchase list. Reviewer: Sylvia Firth
Fancy Nancy thinks that everything in the sky is simply stellar, from the sun and the moon to the stars and their constellations (that's a fancy word for the shapes that stars make!). So nothing could make her happier than a special sleepover under the stars with her dad and her little sister, JoJo. Together Nancy and JoJo wish on stars, moon bathe, and even eat astronaut ice cream! But when rain clouds cover up the stars, what's a stellar stargazer to do?
