About the Author

Stan Hoig is professor emeritus of journalism at the University of Central Oklahoma. He is author or editor of many other publications, including The Peace Chiefs of the Cheyennes (1980, University of Oklahoma Press) and The Cherokees and Their Chiefs: In the Wake of Empire (1998, University of Arkansas Press), which was a History Book Club selection.
