About the Author

Effie Albrecht Pilouni was born in Athens, Greece and studied English Literature and
Linguistics at the University of Athens. She also studied Linguistics at Cambridge
University, England. Effie completed her Master's and Ph.D. degrees in British literature at Auburn University and taught writing, British and World Literature and Women's
Studies there for almost twenty-five years. Since her retirement in 2015, she has been writing, painting, and doing mosaics and wood carvings.

Frank Uhlig was born in a small hamlet in the German mountains which undoubtedly instilled in him the enjoyment of being in the woods and hiking through forests.
For the last twenty years he has increasingly photographed them. Around the age of ten, he received his first camera - all plastic. As a photographer now, he is often opportunistic; when he sees beauty he knows to take an image before it is lost. Frank is a mathematician, now retired, but still active in research. Through the teaching of mathematics and visits with family, he has been able to travel, to see and try to depict the world's beauty.
