GAY SONNETS
It is December 7, 1941 and Gany wants to go home from this visit to people that are his Aunt in-laws. He's having one of his spells that no one believes and the only safe place is home.

Years later they will label it Agoraphobia and he will go to the doctors and be given lots of pills that won't work.
Well he's in their library reading King Lear and they think it's pretty weird for an eleven-year-old to read Shakespeare. At sixteen having played hooky from school, church and some more pleasant activities he asks if there is a way to get a high school diploma. They put him on home instruction.
Discovering that he understands what he reads an English teacher drives him to Brooklyn Tech a few times a week to read poetry and prose over the "High School of the Air," a newly formed effort to increase the knowledge of homebound students.
Gany decides to write poetry in the Shakespeare 14 line form. They will not be shown to anyone for they are in Gay mode. Something he has found out about himself and upset, but the school psychiatrist is trying to stop the guilt that's been put on him.
Shakespeare had to disguise his poems to Southampton and Gany would really like to be more open. Out is years down the road. Later he shows some to gay friends but most do not understand them except a college professor who says some are pretty good. The world changes with the help of Ganys politicking he decides to publish these romantic and erotic ventures.
