Genesis Commentary

The book of Genesis records the beginning of all human institutions and relationships. It reveals God’s progression through his primary and compound names: God, Jehovah, El Shaddai, Jehovah-Jireh, El Elyon, and others. Genesis records the first four of God’s covenants with man. It also records the first dispensations, or ages—unequal time periods where God give man an opportunity to repent of sin. They all end in judgment because of man’s failure to obey God.
