About the Author

Peggy Teel was born and raised in Alabama, where she graduated from the University of Alabama with a Humanities degree and Depth Study in Creative Writing.

She is the author of three books: God and Grandma, Pottery Lessons, and Know Alabama. Her Christmas story, The Best Worst Christmas Ever is available for Kindle and Nook and appeared in From Women’s Pens Christmas Anthology, One Last Gift. She has written articles for Invite Magazine and Senior Living Newspaper. Her works have also been published in Whatever Remembers Us by Negative Capability Press, The Sampler, by Timberline Press, and in the Birmingham Arts Journal.

Her poem, “On Death” won First Place in Birmingham Quill Club’s Contemporary Poetry contest, “The Weaver” won Second Place in their Traditional Poem category, in the Quill Club’s Winter, 2006, contests. Her poems “The Nonagenarians” and “I Am From” won First Place in the Contemporary and Traditional Poem categories in May of 2007. She was awarded the World Congress of Poets Award by the Alabama State Poetry Society in 2007 for her poem “Violin.”

Peggy is a member of the Alabama Writer’s Conclave, The Alabama State Poetry Society, BAWG writing group, and she is a founding member of From Women’s Pens, a cooperative of women writers.

In addition to writing, Peggy enjoys playing the violin, making pottery, exercising, reading, gardening, and eating. Most of all, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
