Henry, an experienced environmental scientist, has made a disturbing discovery. The Earth, long the subject of all the worst that mankind can throw at it, is finally dying, and there is not long left for humanity on this planet. Together with his wife and colleagues, he hatches a plan to evacuate a small, select, group of scientists and engineers to a newly discovered planet, many light years away, where they can establish a new colony, and save at least a part of mankind. Leaving behind them a message for the rest of humanity, to try and let them save themselves, they set off on their perilous journey. But the new planet, while habitable, is not exactly as expected, and they soon find themselves encountering unexpected inhabitants, dangers, and risks, as they establish a new colony. Can they learn to work together, and to work with the inhabitants of the planet, to save themselves and the whole planet? Or will all be lost, just as it seems a bright future is ahead of them.
