About the Author

ELLEN DATLOW has won eight World Fantasy Awards, two Bram Stoker Awards, the International Horror Guild Award, two Hugo Awards, and two Locus Awards for her work as an editor. In a career spanning more than twenty-five years, she has been the fiction editor of OMNI and SCIFI.COM. Datlow has edited many successful anthologies, including The Dark, The Coyote Road, and Inferno. She has also co-edited the Year's Best Fantasy and Horror series, The Faery Reel, A Wolf at the Door, and Swan Sister. She lives in Manhattan.

NICK MAMATAS, co-editor of the groundbreaking fiction magazine Clarkesworld, lives in Northern California.


Ellen Datlow is a winner of multiple World Fantasy Awards, two Hugo Awards for Best Editor, two Bram Stoker Awards, the International Horror Guild Award, and the Shirley Jackson Award. She was named recipient of the 2007 Karl Edward Wagner Award, given at the British Fantasy Convention for "outstanding contribution to the genre." In 2014, she was named Lifetime Achievement Winner of the World Fantasy Award.   In a career spanning more than twenty-five years, she has been the long-time fiction editor of Omni and more recently the fiction editor of SCIFI.COM. She has edited many successful anthologies, including Blood Is Not Enough, A Whisper of Blood, Alien Sex, Blood and Other Cravings, and, with Terri Windling, SirensQueen Victoria's Book of Spells, Snow White, Blood Red and five other titles in their adult Fairy Tales anthology series; The Green Man, The Faery Reel, and The Coyote Road for young adults; and, for younger readers, A Wolf at the Door, Swan Sister, and Troll's Eye View. She also co-edits the Year's Best Fantasy and Horror series. Ellen Datlow lives in Manhattan.
Nick Mamatas is an American author and editor, born on Long Island, New York on February 20, 1972. His novels include Move Under Ground  (2004), a “Lovecraftian Beat road novel” that was nominated for the Bram Stoker and International Horror Guild awards; the Civil War ghost story Northern Gothic (2001); and the “suburban nightmare novel” Under My Roof  (2007). He is also the author of many published horror, fantasy, and science fiction short stories, some of which are collected in 3000 Miles Per Hour In Every Direction At Once (2003) and You Might Sleep... (2009).  From 2006 to 2008 Mamatas co-edited the fiction magazine Clarkesworld, sharing Hugo and World Fantasy Award nominations in 2008 with publisher Neil Clarke and co-editor Sean Wallace. Since late 2008 Mamatas has worked for Viz Media as an editor of SF, fantasy, and horror translated from the Japanese. He has also edited and co-edited several anthologies, most notably Spicy Slitpstream Stories (2008, with Jay Lake), and Haunted Legends (forthcoming in 2010, with Ellen Datlow).
