About the Author

Gail Duerfeldt Hinand was initially a once a year visitor and is now a legal resident of Key West. An avid reader and a history trivia buff, she early in her time here discovered both Lynn Kaufelt's book, Key West Writers and their Homes and Sharon Wells Walking and Biking Guide. And that led to more reading, more searching for anecdotes, and, now, Haunts and Homes. A psychologist, Dr. Hinand holds a doctorate in counseling psychology from Boston University and until her retirement in 2002 had served as Vice President of Student Services, Dean of Students and Director of Counseling at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. Gail, and her spouse Allen, make their homes in Key West, Deer Lake WA and Claremont CA.
