Mia loves volunteering at the Rocky Ridge Riding Center, but her careless mistakes keep getting her into trouble. On the verge of being asked to leave, Mia pleads with her instructor to give her a second chance. She vows to work with Diamond, a skittish horse who has problems with biting students and other horses. Given only four days to change Diamond's ways and save her job, Mia's not sure she can do it, and even her best friend, Sky, doubts her ability to pull it off. But Mia wills herself to slow down and concentrate, and she eventually gains Diamond's trust. While this book does not offer the character depth like other popular chapter book series (e.g., "Junie B. Jones," "Magic Tree House"), the plot is straightforward and the message is clear. Appropriate for the classroom, this book is part of the Jake Maddox Books "Girl Series" and includes a glossary, discussion questions, writing prompts and horse facts.
Mia is a new volunteer at the Rocky Ridge Riding Center, and she's having some trouble adjusting. Diamond is a new horse at the center, and he's also having trouble adjusting to the new environment. Mia and Diamond must learn to work together so they can stay at the Rocky Ridge Riding Center.
