Teenaged girls who like a little fantasy with their romance will thoroughly enjoy this sequel to I Let My Hair Grow Out (Berkley Jam, 2007). Almost-seventeen-year-old Morgan has returned from Ireland where she met Irish hunk, Colin, and discovered she was a half-goddess. She is delighted to hear that Colin will be visiting her hometown to compete in a contest at a nearby college, but Morgan's infatuation with Colin brings him to the attention of mischievous fairies who cast a spell on him. Dancing with the fairies in his dreams every night leaves Colin exhausted and confused. A series of clues and visits to faerie-dom help Morgan discover that the enchantment can be broken at the Spring Fairy Ball, but only if Colin wears a magical pair of shoes made by a leprechaun. Morgan is torn between two worlds as she conspires against the fairies to save Colin and tries to find the perfect dress for her junior prom, which happens to be the same night as the Spring Fairy Ball. As a half-goddess, Morgan must carefully balance the real with the fantasy world. Wood skillfully balances the plot, mixing real-world elements, like arguing parents and boy troubles, with magical elements, such as talking garden gnomes and leprechauns. Although hardcore fantasy fans might find the story a little thin, it is charming enough to win over those who have never tried the genre.
