How to Study the Bible discusses the necessity of motivation and proper attitude as prerequisites for the discovery of divine truth. Then it delves into a discussion of the nature of biblical authority, using Jesus himself as the model, also looking at the role of biblical silence and expediency. It includes a chapter regarding logic and its role in Bible study, as well as a chapter introducing various tools that are helpful for Bible students. In addition, sections on context and language studies show individual students how to correctly understand the Bible. Rather than only providing theory, How to Study the Bible also walks the student through sample studies, highlighting the practical applications of the theory. Its style is directed toward the average Christian but retains challenges for the advanced student and minister as well. This work is not only about the Bible; it is thoroughly biblical, demonstrating how proper Bible study sometimes makes it necessary for us to abandon previously held convictions as we learn more about God's truth.

About the Author

Kevin W. Rhodes graduated from Midwest School of Biblical Studies in 1992.
He holds Master’s degrees in History (West Texas A&M University) and Political
Science (Tarleton State University) and will receive a Master of Education in
Instructional Design (West Texas A&M University) in 2016. He has worked with
congregations in Missouri, Alabama, and Texas, and has been at Granbury Street
in Cleburne, Texas for the last twelve years. In addition to this, Kevin has served
on the faculty of Midwestern School of Preaching and Central Alabama School
of Biblical Studies, co-edited Sound Words for fourteen years, and served on the
adjunct faculty for Hill College. He has authored eight books, available through
Hopkins Publishing. He regularly appears on various lectureships, preaches
gospel meetings, and holds marriage seminars, leadership seminars, and singing
workshops. Kevin and his wife, Tracy, have two daughters, Makaria and Hannah.
