Is The Crime Worth The Time
For the past 10 years Mary L. Conner worked for the Los Angeles County Probation Department and she has seen young people come in and out of the Juvenile Justice System as though it's a normal way of life. It wasn't until 2010, when Ms. Conner took on the role of Community Detention Officer as the Officer of the Day for minors who have been placed on House Arrest by the Courts, that she fully understood the challenges, misunderstandings, and sheer lack of knowledge that parents and their children face. This guide is intended to help juveniles and their parents with basic information about what to expect when they go to court. Some examples include: • What are the judge's guidelines in the courtroom? • How should one dress when making an appearance court? This guide also shares information on some of the basic penal codes, as well as the definitions of basic terms that relate to the legal system. If a person knows better, they can make better choices. The Juvenile Court is no longer a place where you get a clean slate when you turn eighteen. Today, almost every adjudication of delinquency is accompanied by long-term consequences, including DNA tests and adult-style fingerprinting. 'Is The Crime Worth Your Time' was written so that minors and parents have a better understanding of what to expect when a child commits a crime.
