Overview

Dowell (library/learning resources, Cuesta College) and McCabe (Clarion U.) compile 18 essays on aspects of two and four-year college library management, focusing on those colleges that emphasize student learning rather than research institutions. Chapters outline staffing, working with students, marketing, collaboration, planning and budgeting, and procedures. Issues range from organizational structure, motivation, and communication skills to library consortiums and case studies of individual libraries. Ten other brief essays discuss laptop concerns, office supplies, and specific library policies. Contributors are librarians from the US. Annotation ©2006 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
