Jada's Pumpkin Adventure
Seven year old Jada is a happy-go-lucky kind of girl and maybe a little bit mischievous, who absolutely loves the color purple. She would wear it every day if she could because she believes purple is her lucky color. She also loves Halloween. Her class was nominated to make all the crafts for the upcoming Fall Festival celebration. She hates that they call it Fall Festival and wants everyone to know: IT’S HALLOWEEN PEOPLE! They are making candy corn ornaments and leaves? She wants scary, not cute, and maybe a little bit evil. Speaking of evil, Garret a classmate of hers is evil. He pulled a prank on her that involved glue and her hair. Her momma always says, “Do unto others, as they do unto you.” She wonders if that also means the bad stuff. So after hearing a preacher on T.V. mention the same thing, she decides to go for it. She figures if her momma and the preacher both say it, then there must be some truth to it.
Since Jada has such a love for Halloween, her daddy took the two of them to a real Pumpkin Patch. He made sure they got there early enough, to enjoy a hayride. She wanted to get two pumpkins, one for the pumpkin carving contest and the other for baking. After hours upon hours of searching Jada suddenly stops, is speechless for a moment then says, “Daddy I am really seeing this? Is there really the most amazing pumpkin EVER sitting right there in front of me?” Amongst all the orange, sat this beautiful (drum roll please) purple pumpkin. OMG! While Jada carefully wrapped it in a towel to ensure its safety the owner of the patch told her, “Some might say she’s magical. It’s been thought that she carries the Halloween Spirit.”
When they got home Jada put it in her room, next to the bed and decided that this pumpkin was just to amazing to carve. It’ll stay exactly the way it is, she thought. But the pumpkin had a mind of its own. That night Jada’s pumpkin turned into a castle. She walked in and found out that her friends, family and classmates were there, even Garret. She even saw her two favorite teachers, Ms. Pickles and Mr. Collin’s. By nights end they found true love and we all had the best & scariest Halloween Party Ever!

About the Author

Debbie Hahs was born in Harmony, MN and raised across the river in La Crosse, WI. As a young teenager she would spend hours writing short stories along with her older sister, Theresa. They both especially loved to write during thunderstorms. She has always enjoyed writing in her free time.
In adult life, she went to college and earned a BS degree in Health Management. This was a perfect fit since she has a passion for helping others. Work and family life has made it difficult for her to find time to write. Actually, writing had just been a hobby that she did in the past. Until one day when her daughter Jada was five she grabbed a notebook and started writing short stories, with Jada being her main character.
She has now written two books, Adventures of Jada & Snickerdoodles and Jada’S Pumpkin Adventure, and working on the third in the series.
She has decided to publish Adventures of Jada & Snickerdoodles first and Jada’s Pumpkin Adventure second and will release the third as soon as possible.
