The classic 1847 novel by Charlotte Brontë, the "autobiography" of Jane Eyre is the story of a young orphan girl. In this coming-of-age story, Jane leaves the home of her aunt and cousins to live at a boarding school. At the school, she meets friends and caring teachers, but suffers in the oppressive environment. She survives the school and becomes a governess, and eventually finds love.
