About the Author

AJ Hemingway is a freelance writer who won her first “award” for writing at the tender age of 8. Since then, AJ has penned everything from short stories to screenplays to news articles for publications including Monty, Mammoth Times, Daily Californian and North County Magazine. All the Saints Were Left Behind is AJ’s first novel. She drew inspiration from her interest in forensic science and mystery stories such as those featuring her favorite fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes. AJ says, “I always wanted to know how people died when I was younger. This actually horrified my mother, as I always blurted it out when someone had died.” AJ grew up in San Diego as a seventh-generation native from a Spanish land grant family. She lives with her retired show dog Franklin, a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. AJ enjoys fly fishing, which she’s done in locations around the world including Canada, Chile and Argentina, as well as playing softball and hiking.

I love a mystery that sucks you in, leaves you guessing,...and even when you think you "get it" you still don't know how he's going to prove it! It had the feel of classic film noir. I couldn't put it down, and the vivid picture it painted of San Diego's history was breathtaking. I could picture all my favorite places in the days before tourism and the biomed industry. I highly recommend this as a great story.
