Overview

Sing (Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, Waseda U., Japan) presents a collection of 15 essays (some previously published) that collectively explore economic relationships between Japan and other Asian nations, with separate sections devoted to Malaysia, Singapore, China, and the Association of Southeast Nations (ASEAN). Issues of non- tariff barriers, foreign direct investment, trade frictions, and regional integrations head the list of concerns. Sing, as has become usual, provides a new foreword for this fourth edition, in which he assesses economic developments at the year of publication. Focusing especially on newly industrializing economies and the regional group ASEAN, Sing (Asian-Pacific studies, Waseda U., Japan) examines the dynamics of the relationship between Japan and Asia, and her influence and involvement in regard to investment development aid, trade frictions, and non-tariff barriers. The truly first edition was published in 1994 as , but the 1995 edition was the first with the current title. The latest has two new chapters and updated statistics. Distributed in the US by ISBS.
