About the Author

In 1992, Rix learned that he had a cousin on Arizona’s Death Row. He had never met Ray Krone but soon became convinced of Ray’s innocence and subsequently spearheaded an effort to free him. Ray Krone was granted a second trial but in 1996 was again convicted of murder. Rix continued his efforts and in 2002 Ray Krone became the 100th Death Row exoneree after crime-scene DNA implicated a convicted sex offender.
Having taken Rix eleven years to write, it chronicles the monumental effort of family and friends to free Ray Krone, analyzes what the author learned about the criminal justice system, and builds a strong circumstantial case that the convicted sex offender now serving a life sentence for the murder of Kim Ancona didn’t kill her either.

Today Rix lives high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at Lake Tahoe.
