The papers resulted from the John F. Kennedy Student Paper Competition. The competition was established by the IAHR Council in 1992 to honor the memory of Professor John F. Kennedy, a prominent educator and researcher in the international hydraulics community. The student papers cover such topics as detection of hairpin vortices; deposition of fine suspended sediment; semi-empirical modeling of sediment transport; thermal regime of the Missouri River; and hot-film shear stress measurements in laminar and turbulent flows.
