About the Author

Hello, my name is Alan Williams. I am Kirby's grandson and a his biographer. I was born and raised in Winchester, Va., and I'm a 1973 graduate of John Handley High School. I was a student at Potomac State College of West Virginia University; I earned my B.S. in Workforce, Education and Development from Southern Illinois University and my M.S. in Public Administration at Troy University. I'm a retired Navy Veteran and I'm enjoying my second career in law enforcement. I'm a self taught electric bass player and thoroughly enjoy 1960s and 1970s progressive jazz. My mom, Yvonne Kirk Williams, my grandma, Mary Kirk Laws, Kirby's cousin - June Gaskins, Kirby's schoolmate Mrs. Anna Bertha, jazz enthusiast and Winchester resident Russell Mason and Kirby's music teacher, Powell Gibson (all deceased) provided me a thorough education through writings and personal interviews about Kirby's upbringing and his career. I'm proud to present, "Flow Gently Sweet Rhythm, 2017." Remember, smile and be serious about jazz. Thanks for downloading my ebook.
