In the present book, the existence of judicial system in India in Vedic period, Hindu period, Mohammedan period and British period has been traced out that our Smritis contain the provisions of present codes of laws—I.P.C., Cr.P.C., C.P.C., Evidence Act, etc.—in more elaborate way, establishing that what British think they have given to India (present legal system) was already available in our ancient India and had eclipsed during Mohammedan rule, when Shariat was in vogue, which did not have detailed codified laws and legal system. This book will certainly be of interest to the people having interest in the ancient Indian systems compared with the modern ones.

About the Author

D. D. Aggarwal, born in 1933, had his schooling in Sonipath (Haryana) and graduation and post- graduation from Delhi. He joined Ministry of Railways through the IAS and Allied Services Examination and retired from there as a Joint Secretary. After retirement he adopted writing books as his pastime and has already written many books including Protocol in Ramcharitmanas and Protocol in Srimad Bhagwat (both in English and Hindi); India Ever Independent: Why only 50years, CBI and Policing in India since Vedic Period and Jurisprudence in India Through the Ages. In these books, the writer has tried to trace the respective modern systems in our ancient books viz., Vedas Samritis Puranas etc. The present book protocol in Mahabharata is another link in the chain depicting all aspects of modern protocol-spiritual, social, political and administrative-existing in Mahabharata, an ocean of contents of Hindu way of life in that era.
