A litany of Justice League superheroes face off against fearsome foes in this comic featuring twenty battles. A brief discussion of some of the Justice League superheroes is followed by a discussion of the more well-known villains. The battles provide most of the information, though. Sazaklis and Foxe give a rundown of what started each battle, a discussion of the fight itself, background on the hero and the villain, and a “file” on each detailing name, weapons, job, height, weight, special powers, and battle stats. The winners of the battles are listed in the back, with a small blurb about how the winner was able to emerge victorious. Not all of the heroes or villains are shown on the rundown sheets, but other than that small quibble, this is an excellent resource for comic book fans. The nuances of the superheroes (and villains) are explored, both heroes and villains emerge victorious, and there’s more than enough information to keep comic-crazy readers entertained. Even readers who are not familiar with the DC universe will find this reader to provide an excellent primer. A first purchase for libraries, this is perfect for any reader who loves the DC universe.
