Kentucky Footnotes
For nearly three decades, Byron Crawford served at the Kentucky Columnist for the Louisville Courier-Journal, tracking down more than 4,500 stories in that time. These stories are described by Byron as “footnotes,” the underlying fine print of Kentucky’s people and places in words and pictures -- not the headline stories of the day, but stories that capture the essence and unique flavor of everyday people, places or moments throughout the Commonwealth. Kentucky Footnotes is Byron’s third published collection of pieces from the Courier-Journal, and features over 130 of his most memorable stories. In Kentucky Footnotes, readers will find any enjoyable sampling of the stories that helped make this Hall of Fame journalist among the most widely-read writers at the Courier-Journal.

About the Author

Byron Crawford’s television and newspaper stories and photographs about Kentucky’s fascinating people and places have appeared in print and broadcasts from coast to coast and occasionally in Europe and Asia. But his thrice-weekly stories were most at home over the past 29 years in the Courier-Journal, from which Byron retired as the newspaper’s “Kentucky Columnist” in December 2008. Byron and his wife, Jackie, live in Shelbyville and are the parents of four children and six grandchildren.
