About the Author

Marcel St-Amand was born in Montreal where he joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1972. He studied at Canadian Armed Forces Kingston in Communications and was then deployed to Garrison Petawawa as a Communications Specialist. In 1979, he undertook a new assignment with the Emergency Services until his retirement. During his years with the Department of National Defence, Marcel St-Amand was exposed to the activities of the Canadian Special Operations Regiment, Joint Task Force II, and also the 427th Special Operations Aviation Squadron as well as to other combat regiments who trained for Special Operations. In 1990, he obtained his pilot’s license and now, along with his motorcycle and canoe (and his German Shepherd “Shadow”), Marcel St-Amand lives for the roads and uncharted waterways of Ontario and Quebec. He resides in the Ottawa Valley on a 45-acre estate with his wife, Debra-Jean. They have two children now flown from the nest.
