The book is not lengthy but covers a wide array of topics that are categorized as manager's role, running a library, information technology, staff, and public relations. These categories contain chapters written by various library professionals from both public and academic libraries. Each chapter is very small, but the information is concise and examples are provided. The book is written as a manual for common issues, so readers may refer to specific chapters as needed. A detailed table of contents and thorough index are available, as well as a list of contributors with biographies. The author biographies are especially helpful in gleaning the authority of a chapter's information. This book is pleasantly surprising; it is quick and easy to read, and there is continuity to the writing, despite the large number of authors.
