The complex concept of motion, forces, and friction is explained so easily in this book that even a very young child can understand it. The large print and simple vocabulary make it ideal for young readers. In addition, there are only one to two sentences on each page, and the large colorful photographs will certainly appeal to many. The vivid photographs show a variety of children, adults, and vehicles engaging in actions that involve motion. A jet airplane soars through the sky, a dirt bike races down the track, a boy flies a kite, and a young girl is pushed on a swing. Children will identify with these activities and objects as the corresponding text explains that "the force of the wind pushes this boy's kite toward the clouds." Readers will also be introduced to air resistance, gravity, and vibration. The book concludes with an "air soccer" activity in which children can use their breath to make motion.
