Medien als Akteure in der politischen Transition: Bolivien im Autonomiekonflikt

Especially in times of high instability media actors take positions in order to influence political change. Based on field theory and the concept of hybrid media regimes, the dynamic relations between the political and journalistic field during political transition will be analyzed. Bolivia, a country that is undergoing a new transition phase since 2000, is used as the object of a case study. While the success of different social movements has led to a reconfiguration of the political field the balance of power in the journalistic field remains rather unchanged. Due to the uneven development of both fields tensions have arisen between politics and media. The debate on decentralization shows to what extent and why political positions are expressed in the journalistic field. The study provides an analytical method that can be related to the analyses of media transition as well as comparing media structures.
