Purpose: The purpose is provide information relating to all aspects of chemotherapy in a readily available, easy-to-use format. Information is given on each drug, with separate chapters on routes of administration and nursing management of side effects, and patient teaching.
Audience: Nurses new to the administration of chemotherapy will find this reference useful. It is a quick guide for nurses administering chemotherapy in any setting—office, hospital, clinic, or home.
Features: An asset of the book is its small, compact format, which easily fits in a lab coat or medication cart. Chapters on antiemetics and the safe handling of chemotherapy will be useful to the busy practitioner.
Assessment: This small book is useful as a quick reference, particularly for the beginning nurse. The more experienced nurse will be disappointed in the bibliography, particularly the lack of guidelines recently published by the Oncology Nursing Society.
