Mi Parroquia, Cristo Vecino
The parish is Christ our Neighbor and, like Christ, it will always be "Eternally young." The parish is Christ our neighbor, because in her, close to our homes, especially, Christ works as Teacher, Priest and Pastor. If the parish encompasses a group of residents that are neighbors, the main Neighbor is Jesus Christ. Christ the Teacher through the teaching of doctrine in catechisms, in the homilies, in the popular Missions ... Christ the priest in the sacraments ... Christ the pastor who through the ministerial pastors leads us to eternal life ... Christ is spiritually present in our own homes, schools, factories, sports fields, recreation centers, schools, offices, museums, means of transportation and means of communication ... But particularly, He is present in "the theological reality" which is the parish. And He always will be there. Christ our Neighbor is, for that very reason the Contemporary Christ that with His clear promise assures us: I am with you until the end of times!
(Mt 28.20).

About the Author

Father Carlos Miguel Buela, IVE, was ordained a priest in 1971 in Argentina. From the beginning of his priestly vocation, he dedicated himself in a particular way to youth ministry, with the conviction that the Church must work with the youth by way of her vocation. He founded the Institute of the Incarnate Word (IVE) in 1984 and the Institute Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matara (SSVM) in 1988, the feminine branch of the religious family of the “Incarnate Word.” Both institutes enjoy active and contemplative branches, all sharing in the same charism of the evangelization of the culture. Presently, both institutes are present as religious missionaries in five continents, comprised of about 1,800 members and more than 270 houses around the world.
